The Tree House: Uniting The Local Artists Of Pakistan

The music industry of Pakistan is filled with so much undiscovered raw talent just waiting to be found, to be heard and to be given recognition. The Tree House is a platform that is doing just that.

What is the tree house?

Founded by Xarb’s drummer named Shahzeb, It’s basically a platform that in his words serves as an “incubator” for local artists allowing them to grow and learn and exploit their capabilities to the maximum. It’s not just limited to musicians though, if you’re a graphic designer, a painter, a video editor, a film maker, writer or any other art form, you can be a part of their project.

How does it work?

The tree house provides artists a place to record their music, a safe place to rehearse their songs, small open mics to show case their talent and video production for their original songs. They basically help make collaborations between talented artists happen to produce amazing music. A song not only needs a good main singer but also needs tons of musicians like guitarists, drummers, violinists, lyric writers, back-up vocals etc but it also needs someone to shoot the video, someone to edit it, someone to make the cover art, someone to market the song etc so it’s a broad community.

What projects have they worked on?

They launched their label’s first project called “Talaash”, an Urdu word for discover in which they searched for young talented artists to come together and work on one song. On 14th August 2020, they posted an original song called “Hum Bhi Girrein Ge” by an 18 year old artist named Mustafa Qayyum ( Link: https://www.instagram.com/p/CECE858BuD7/ ) on their account and asked people to submit their entries whether it’s singing or any instrument or music of any kind for it. The tree house combined all these entries to produce one single song; an exciting and motivational pop song you need to check out. I’ve been listening to it on repeat while writing this article because it’s just so catchy and really ignites a fire inside you.
